 yards. The West Course, designed to be a resort course of par 72 at a comfortable 7064

The designers have aimed to create a golf course which is as in keeping as possible with its

natural surroundings. The most important features are the natural creeks that run through the

course and the natural rock that's been used as design features on many of the holes.

Many of the original trees have been kept and many new trees have been planted in order to

frame the holes. It was very important in the design concept to create a course that could be a

grueling test even for top golfers in the world, yet also very playable and enjoyable to the

average golfer.

All the holes provide the golfer with a safe route, but the more adventurous player may take

the higher risk option with potential greater rewards. The design offers generous fairways for 

the shorter hitter yet becoming narrower for the longer hitter. The greens are large with many

pin positions with different degrees of difficulty. The course is well protected by beautifully

sculptured bunkers.

Much thought went into choosing the grass, it was decided to use seashore paspalum

for the tees, fairways and the rough. This grass gives a wonderful playing surface and a 

beautiful emerald green colour. The decision was made to use tifeagle bermuda grass on the

greens. This hybrid Bermuda grass is now being recognized as the best putting surface in
